FAQ — Frequently asked questions
When does the training start?
Your apprenticeship at Steimel usually starts between August 1 and September 1, depending on the profession and year of birth. We will of course inform you of the exact start date in good time as part of your application.
What requirements should I meet?
You should be interested in technology — for example, in how machines are constructed, how they work or in which areas they are used. If you are curious about topics such as pump technology, centrifuges, palletizing systems, chip breakers or automation, you already have a good basis. Reliability, willingness to learn and team spirit are just as important to us as a genuine interest in what you do for us.
How does the application process work?
After we have received your application, we will carefully review your documents. If everything fits, we will invite you to a personal interview — depending on the job you are training, this may include a short aptitude test or a trial day. We will then get back to you as soon as possible. It is important to us that you get a realistic insight and that we find out together whether the training at Steimel is right for you.
Are there further training opportunities after the apprenticeship?
After completing your training at Steimel, there are many paths open to you. In the commercial/technical sector, you can train yourself to become a technician or master craftsman, for example. In the commercial sector, qualifications such as a specialist or business economist are possible next steps. We will support you if you want to develop professionally and personally.
Can I shorten the training period?
In principle, it is possible to shorten the training period — for example with certain previous school knowledge or very good performance during training. We will clarify individually during the course of the training in consultation with the vocational school and the responsible chamber whether a reduction is an option in your case.
Where do the vocational school blocks take place?
Vocational school usually takes place 1-2 days a week. For commercial training occupations, visit the Hennef vocational college (industrial mechanic, electronics technician) or the Troisdorf vocational college (cutting machine operator). In commercial training, lessons take place two days a week at the Siegburg Vocational College.
